Northern Siberia has few roads, and these are little more than disintegrating strips of broken concrete and mud. During the summer months, these roads are overrun by trucks hauling supplies to remote villages.

The airstrips that dot northern Siberia are in a similar state of disrepair, corroded by dirt, sand, and heaving permafrost. Given these conditions, our team has chosen to fly World War II Russian An-2 biplanes, which can land just about anywhere.
