Dr. William Fitzhugh of the Smithsonian Institution and Sven Haakanson, a Harvard graduate student from Kodiak Island, will join
the expedition. Bill Gasperini, head radio
correspondent for CBS News in Moscow, will write the weekly stories from the field. A team of
Russian scientists and aviators will accompany them, as well. Most of the flying will be done at extremely low altitudes. The biplane's ability to take off and land in difficult terrain will take the expedition into otherwise unreachable areas of Siberia.
